GRADES:
Teachers will go over their grading procedures in each class and these will be addressed in the core content letters. We will be using the school-wide grading scale.
A 90-100
B 80-89
C 70-79
D 60-69
F 59 and below
LATE WORK:
Late work is unacceptable. Late work is always a problem for the student and the teacher. Each student will have a school agenda and he or she is required to record all assignments and the due dates of the assignments in the agenda. Also, all team teachers keep daily logs or assignment charts in their classrooms. There is no reason why students should not be aware of, or confused about their assigned work.
Teachers will have lesson plans posted on the website everyday. Please use this to check what your child misses if he/she is absent from school.
Please also make use of infinite campus to check your child’s grades at any time. Please keep in mind that teachers usually enter grades only once a week into infinite campus.
ATTENDANCE:
Please be sure that your child is present and on time to school. Attendance and tardiness directly affect your child’s learning and grades. If your child becomes ill and will be absent for several days, please contact the school office. Please make arrangements 24 hours in advance to pick up your child’s homework. The 24-hour notice is a school policy to allow teachers time to gather assignments and materials.
CONFERENCES:
Conferences can be arranged during our team planning time. This will be noted on your child’s schedule as Exploratory Class. If you should need to schedule a conference, please call the office for an appointment. After school conferences are difficult for the team teachers to schedule due to extracurricular assignments and activities.
RESTROOM / BREAKS:
Students will have enough time during the school day to go to the restroom and/or their lockers. Breaks have been scheduled into the day. We encourage students to take care of their personal needs during these times. Generally, students will not be allowed to leave class for a bathroom break. Emergencies and sudden illnesses are exceptions.
FIELD TRIPS:
We will be going on several field trips throughout the year. We encourage all students to attend since field trips are an extension of our classrooms. Field trips are considered to be a graded assignment and students will receive credit for each field trip. We always need and depend on parent/guardian chaperons. We are required to have at least one adult for every 10 students or we are not able to take the scheduled field trip, so please be sure to volunteer. All volunteers are required to have their fingerprints on file in our school office. Students will be bringing home information about field trips as they draw nearer, so please be sure to return the forms as quickly as possible.
We hope that this welcome letter has answered any questions you may have about our team’s expectations. We are looking forward to a positive and rewarding school year.
Respectfully,
The Journey Team Teachers:
